This edition incorporates screen shots from Chapter 5 of Mixtape in which Hermann uses ubiquitous face manipulation tools of social media to morph his own face with that of a child beauty pageant contestant. Emojis take on new meanings through these absurdist, yet deeply personal expressions which challenge traditional notions of beauty. The title refers to the soundtrack of Chapter 5, Broken Face by the Pixies, a song that celebrates differences and imperfections.
